Man shot in head on State Street bridge in downtown Chicago

The State Street bridge is one of a group of famous bridges that crosses the Chicago River in downtown Chicago. The incident appears to have taken place during the evening rush how. Police are now looking for the suspect.
According to media reports, the 29-year-old man was on the West side of the bridge, which is near Wacker Drive. Reportedly the gunman approached the 29-year-old man, pulled out a gun, and fired into his head at very close range. The incident happened at about 5 p.m.
The victim was taken to nearby Northwestern University Hospital. He was listed in serious-to-critical condition. The man was reportedly able to communicate with police detectives on the scene.
As for the gunman, he reportedly fled south on State Street. Witnesses said it appeared as if the gunman carried a chrome plated hand gun. Witnesses reportedly told police that it was believed the gunman was head towards Millennium Park.
Chicago Police are stating that the believe the victim was the intended target and that this was not a random act. Police are reportedly looking through various surveillance tapes from security cameras in the area for further evidence.
The gunman is described at African American with a thin build and a short afro haircut. He was wearing, at the time of the shooting, a light blue dress shirt with the sleeved rolled up. He was also reportedly wearing black shorts.
