Chicago winter parking ban, 200 cars towed overnight.

The city of Chicago towed more than 200 vehicles as the winter overnight parking ban went into effect early Tuesday morning -- and Mayor Richard Daley said residents had plenty of warning.

City crews towed 234 vehicles between 3 and 7 a.m. today, up from the first-night total from 2008 of 167, according to Matt Smith, a spokesman for the Streets and Sanitation Department. Cars were towed to the city auto impound lots at 701 N. Sacramento Ave. and East 103rd St. and Doty Avenue.
